The Town Supervisor serves in several major capacities:
Ø The Supervisor is the presiding officer at meetings of the Town Board and votes like all other Town Board members.
Ø The Supervisor often carries out the decisions of the Town Board.
Ø The Supervisor is the Budget Officer.
Ø The Supervisor is the Town Fiscal Officer and generally represents the Town in the conduct of its financial affairs.
Ø Acting as the treasurer and demanding, collecting, receiving and having custody of all money belonging to or due the Town.
Ø Depositing and securing all moneys within ten days after receipt in the official Town bank account.
Ø Temporarily investing idle Town moneys when authorized by the Town Board.
Ø Paying moneys on warrant of the Town Clerk after audit and allowance by the Town Board.
Ø Disbursing moneys only by checks payable to the persons entitled to the payment.
Ø Keeping an accurate and complete account of all moneys received and disbursed in accordance with the accounting system prescribed by the State Comptroller.
Ø Keeping a separate account for every appropriation; allowing no appropriation account to be overdrawn at any time; allowing no fund or appropriation account to be drawn upon to pay a claim chargeable to another.
